My dear Father Adriano, Patrizia, Stefano and Chiara,Your mail made me feel like being in Oasis. Special thanks to Stefano.
How sweet to write to you. I have been appointed Parish Priest of a Parish called KESAVANPUTHENTHURAI from the 24th June. It is a coastal village in Kanyakumari district, TamilNadu at the shore of Arabian Sea.. It is a good parish, consisting of about 3,000/- Catholic people who are economically very backward. At present 90 per cent of people have been affected by a strange fever, called CHICK-KUN-KUNIYA. Actually these people are tsunami victims.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church is our parish church. This church building is very old. This was built in the year 1954 with the support of Priests from Belgium. Now this building is badly damaged, especially the ceiling and the floor, so when ever it rains, people can’t sit and pray inside the church. Hence we the parishioners are in need of renewing the church building.
I was suffering from ulcer and low blood pressure for the last few months and I was hospitalized often. Please forgive me for my long silence. Doctor has advised me to take lot fruits and to avoid spices. And with the money you sent me I have bought a motor cycle. Doctor advices me that it better to drive a car than riding a two wheeler for I get giddiness out of low blood pressure. Thank God I feel better and my health is becoming well.
There are so many poor people in my new parish. I specially pray for them in daily Mass. If there is possibility, you can help those people. And I hope you are an instrument in the hands of Our Lore Jesus Christ to help the poor. The Grace of Our Lord works through your holy hands. I specially pray for you, dear Father Adriano, Patrizia, Stefano and Chiara. May the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Love of God the Father and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. As per my new schedule, I will offer a Holy Mass on the 20th this month at 7 O’clock in the morning for all your intentions. May God bless you more and more.
Your loving son Fr. J. Selvaraj
